Short notes in English

I realize that people that doesn't speak Swedish get directed to this page due to tags in English. Anyhow, I thought that perhaps it would be helpful to have parts of my blog in English, or at least a short version of it!

This is a blog about Fatigue or more exactly Mental Fatigue. A condition I’m suffering from after having a major brain hemorrhage (Stroke) back in 2010. The stroke left me paralytic on the left side of my body, but I am able to walk around a bit but not very gracefully…

Even thou being “one-handed” is a major inconvenience, what I find to be the most disturbing with the whole experience is the fatigue that I suffer from daily.

Mental Fatigue is a symptom of that something is not right with your central nervous system. It is very common in deceases like MS, and in the later stages of Cancer. And if you have had any kind of head trauma like concussion or surgery to your brain it is very common.

Usually it wears of in a few months or years but not always. In some cases the condition gets permanent; like it has for me. This means that I have a very restricted amount of energy to spend during my day and also common things like taking a shower and getting dressed drains my energy supply. It also means that I have a hard time focusing and concentrating hard for longer periods. Reading and writing (activities that used to be relaxing and energizing), now causes me fatigue and I have to rest many times during a day in order to just take me trough the day.

There is no cure for Mental Fatigue today. Researchers have found that Mindfulness meditation has a positive effect thou, so that is what I do! I Practice Mindfulness in order to cope and learn to live with the little amount of energy I have!
